Crews with Empire Waste Systems work Thursday on demolition and recycling of part of the former Walmart building in South Carson City. The building is being demolished to make way for a Sportsmen's Warehouse.

Empire Waste systems focuses on recycling materials taken from demolition sites. The company recently completed the demolition of the Carson City Sheriff's Department building, reusing more than 2,500 tons of material.
