CHS boys swim impressive again

The Carson High boys swim team continued its impressive season with a 165-104 win over Spanish Springs on Saturday.

Carson's girls also turned in a strong showing against Northern 4A power Spanish Springs before falling 173-125.

In the boys meet, Carson won all but one event, Garrett Clayton, Jacob Cornwell, Kevin Dyer and Ashton McIntosh wn the 200-yard medley relay in 1 minute, 51.53 seconds. Cornwell also led a 1-2 finish in the 200 freestyle as he won in 1:59.62 while Nich Schlager took second in 2:03.44.

Clayton and Paul Chang went 1-2 in the 200 individual medley as well as Clayton won in 2:08.35 and Chang was second in 2:11.80.

Dyer won the 100 butterfly (59.36) and Grunert won the 100 free (50.12) while Adam Updegrove was third. Dyer, Cornwell and Albert Reed went 1-2-3 in the 500 free with Dyer winning in 5:16.27, Cornwell taking second in 5:17.31 and Reed placing third.

Chang, Clayton, McIntosh and Grunert won the 200 free relay in 1:38.80. Grunert won the 100 backstroke in 1:02.05 while Schlager was second.

Clayton won the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.33 while Chang was second in 1:05.43. In addition, Dyer, Cornwell, Schlager and Grunert won the 400 free relay in 3:35.86.

For Carson's girls, Sam Tanner and Kim Winder went 1-2 in diving with Tanner winning. Tatum Boehnke won the 100 fly in 1:05.45 whiel Julie Asire won the 100 free in 57.57.

Boehnke was edged in the 500 free by Spanish Springs' Chelsey Larsen as Larsen won in 5:26.68 while Boehnke was second in 5:26.87. Boehnke, Julia Lapham, Beth Lewis and Asire also won the 200 free relay in 1:51.10.
