Dutch Bros. Coffee locations will be donate all proceeds of coffee sales to the Muscular Dystrophy Association on May 9. The Carson City location is at 1449 S. Carson St.

Last year's event raised close to $60,000.

The Micromanipulator Company, 1555 Forest Way, has started a nine-day work schedule and financial incentive to ease the environmental impact of commuting. One-third of their employees come from Reno or other outlying areas.

Southgate Coins, 5032 S. Virginia St., Reno is inviting all children younger than 12 to enter the 200-Year-Old Coin Giveaway Contest. This event challenges children to answer six questions related to the year 1808 for the chance of winning a half dollar minted in 1808 valued at $150. Entries are due by July 25. The winner will be selected Aug. 5.

Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare announced Devon Huning has been named as Partnership Program Coordinator for Nevada. This position, based at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, is funded by the National Cancer Institute's Cancer Information Service and the Nevada Comprehensive Cancer Control Program to serve the State of Nevada. Huning will collaborate with national, state and regional organizations to disseminate cancer information and develop cancer education programs that reach minority and medically underserved populations. She will work to bring cancer information to people who may have difficulties seeking health information because of educational, financial, language or other barriers.

The Internal Revenue Service has launched a year-long campaign to help educate new self-employed small business owners about federal tax responsibilities and about filing Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business, providing new Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business filers with improved and updated educational materials (including IRS.gov), small business workshops and other outreach events. The first event in the campaign is a free national phone forum, "Calling All First Time Schedule C Filers," on May 21. Empire Waste Systems was awarded the contract to haul and dispose of the recently demolished Carson City Sheriff's station. The city was responsible for all costs associated with the disposal of debris from the Sheriff Station. EWS took it upon themselves to recycle, reuse and recycle more than 80 percent of the entire structure (more than 2,500 tons) saving the Carson City more than $25,000 in hard disposal costs. The company has long-term plans of getting more involved with local schools to help promote an environmentally conscientious educational program that will teach the benefits of recycling and sound waste removal practices.
