Gene Forrest Creighton

Gene Forrest Creighton, born in The Dalles, Oregon, January 26, 1943, passed away April 19, 2008. On that day, Gene cast his last line for an elusive trophy fish on the East Carson River, near Markleeville, Calif. Gene will be sadly missed by his wife, Joan Creighton. He is survived by many loving family members as well; his mother, Margarette L. Creighton and sister, Irene Cornett. He was a loving father to Victoria Creighton, Christopher Creighton, Kevin Watts, Anne Wood, Eric Fox, Daniel Lee Baker, Johnny D. Carr, and numerous grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Jay B. Creighton.

Gene, aka "Wigglewart" or "Fishing Machine", loved the outdoors. He grew up in Goldendale, Wash., where hunting and fishing were a way of life. He graduated from Goldendale High School in 1963 as an accomplished athlete. Gene graduated Tacoma Community College, receiving an Associates Degree in Drafting.

Gene proudly served in Korea and South Vietnam as a Fuel Specialist in the Air Force during the 1960s. Gene spent 25 years in loyal service to Boeing Company working as an Engineering Draftsman, retiring in 2001.

Gene gave much of his free time serving many community-based organizations: NRA, Eagles, Fish, Carson City Fly Fishing, Ormsby Sportsmens Club, President of the Sagebrush Chapter of Trout Unlimited in Reno, and the Assembly of God Northwest Family Church in Auburn, Wash.

Gene enjoyed playing pinochle, bridge, and bunco with his friends at the Carson City Senior Center. Gene continued to enjoy snow skiing, golfing, motorcycle riding, archery, hunting, and frequent fishing outings well into his retirement.

A public viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Friday. A memorial service and celebration of Gene's life will be 11 a.m., Saturday at Autumn Funerals & Cremations, 1575 N. Lompa Lane, Carson City with full military honors.
