At least one person is dead following a head-on collision on Highway 50 around 3:30 this afternoon at Shirlee Avenue, about 20 miles east of Dayton, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
According to a press release from trooper Chuck Allen, one vehicle was fully engulfed.
In addition to the fatality, two people were taken by Careflight to Renown Medical Center. One had severe burns and the driver of the second vehicle had serious injuries, according to Allen.
Initially both east and west bound lanes of the two-lane highway were closed, but the east bound lane is now open.
