Two people were injured in an accident at Carson and Colorado streets this afternoon at 4:17 p.m.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a gold Oldmobile sedan tried to cross Highway 395 from the Quail Park Shopping Center.
The sedan was T-boned by a southbound Chevy SUV.
The impact sent both vehicles into the northbound lanes, with the driver's side of the sedan crushed and the vehicle facing north. The SUV ended up in the west turn lane into the shopping center across from Colorado Street.
The middle-aged male driver of the sedan and an 18-year-old female passenger were extricated by emergency crews from the wreckage. Care Flight took the man from the scene to a Reno hospital, and was expected to return to Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center to transport the female who had facial injuries. Two additional teenage passengers appeared uninjured.
The female driver of the SUV and a small child did not appear to be injured.
Traffic is being routed onto the frontage road in front of the former National Guard Armory.
Expect delays in the area.
