Carson City Babe Ruth fall signups

Carson City Babe Ruth is still accepting signups for its fall baseball season. All players ages 12-15 are eligible.

Carson Valley Inn ready for football

The Carson Valley Inn will again provide a full spectrum of fun for the 2008 football season with big screen action, food and beer specials, plenty of betting opportunities at the Sports Book and free prize drawings during Monday Night Football.

The Inn's Cafe Cabaret will be open beginning September 7 on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. and Mondays from 5 p.m. until the end of the third quarter. A variety of super-size football munchies return for just $2.50 including nachos smothered in chili and cheese, sloppy barbecue brisket sandwich on a bun, Chicago red hots steamed in beer, loaded chili cheese dogs, stadium popcorn buckets, cheesy nachos and chili bowl and deli sandwich slices. Bud or Bud Lite jumbo draft beer is just $1.75.

Mondays bring double points all day for Inn Club members after the regular season starts. There are also plenty of drawings during Monday Night Football for casino players and those playing in the poker room or watching the game in the Cabaret Lounge. Prizes include NFL logo shirts and hats for the teams playing that night, 2008 Carson Valley Inn "Catch Inn the Action" T-shirts, plus the popular one-day lift tickets for Kirkwood ski resort.

At the Cal-Neva Sports Book at the Inn, participants can enter Northern Nevada's richest and most popular football handicapping contests with $500,000 in prizes for the 2008 season. Parlay cards can be played 52 weeks a year and there are many extra weekly football parlay cards. Football season also brings Sunday and Monday night proposition cards and halftime wagers on all NFL games and all televised college football games. The Cal-Neva Sports Book at the Inn also offers a variety of future and proposition wagering, index wagering, and a full spectrum of sports choices.

The Carson Valley Inn (www.cvinn.com) is located on U.S. Highway 395 in Minden, near the intersection of State Highway 88.

Plymell fires hole-in-one at Thunder Canyon

Randy Plymell recently shot a hole-in-one at Thunder Canyon Golf Club, using a 7-iron on the 174-yard 17th hole.

Prowlers softball looking for players

The Prowlers softball program is looking for players for its upcoming season. There will be a 12-and-under team and possibly a 14-and-under team that will play in Amateur Softball Association, National Softball Association and United States Softball Association tournaments in Nevada and California. Tahoe Grizzlies 13-14 hockey team needs players

The Tahoe Grizzlies 13-14-year-old ice hockey team is seeking players for the upcoming season. Boys and girls are welcome.
