RENO " Federal wildlife officials are offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for killing a golden eagle near Reno and tying its carcass to a tree.
U.S. Forest Service workers found the eagle earlier this summer at Galena Creek Regional Park southwest of Reno.
Eagles are protected under federal law.
Officials say the crime carries a possible 18-month prison sentence and a fine of up to $115,000.
