Retired Public Employees of Nevada to meet Tuesday


Carson Chapter of Retired Public Employees of Nevada will meet 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. New officers for 2009 will be installed. Literacy Volunteer Organization holds training sessions


Carson City Literacy Volunteer Organization holds training sessions for new tutors, 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17 and Thursday, Sept. 18; 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20; and 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24, and Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Nevada Library and Archives Building, 100 N. Stewart St. Cost is $25. Training gives people the tools and confidence needed to tutor without prior teaching experience. For information or to register, call 885-1010.




New hours for Bureau of Land Management office in Carson


The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City District Office, announces that office hours for the public room, lobby and switchboard services will change Monday, Sept. 8, to Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. This change will make the District office's hours consistent with other BLM offices in Nevada. Candy Dance tickets still available


Tickets for the 2008 Genoa Candy Dance Dinner Dance are available at several Carson Valley locations. The ticket price is $25 for adults and $12 for children age 12 and under. All dinner dance tickets will be sold in advance. The deadline to purchase dinner dance tickets is 5 pm, Monday, September 22. Dance-only tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at the same locations as the dinner dance tickets, or at the door. All tickets are non-refundable. Tickets can be purchased at the following locations: Genoa Town Office, The Dancing Deer, Tahoe Ridge Winery, Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce and Carson Valley Museum.
