MORRO BAY, Calif. - Carson stretched its winning streak to two games with a 55-46 win over North Bakersfield in the first round of the Morro Bay Invitational on Wednesday night.
Carson, 2-1, advances to play Host Morro Bay tonight at 8.
"It was a sloppy game," said Carson coach Todd Ackerman. "I don't know the exact number, but we had quite a few turnovers. The team we played was very aggressive. They doubled-team us a lot. For us, it was good to see that type of team. Anytime the ball went to the wings they double-teamed. We're playing too fast. We need to slow down and take care of the ball."
Carson grabbed a 28-24 lead at the half, as Gina Bianchi scored 10 of her team-high 16 in that span.
The Senators maintained control in the second half thanks to Bianchi, Brandi Vega and Elayna Shine.
Vega scored six of her 12 in the second half and Bianchi also scored six. Shine tallied five of her seven in the final two quarters.
Yvonne Hollett scored six, Blaike King five, Cassie Vondrak four, Tiffany O'Day three and Krista Mattice added a basket.
