MORRO BAY, Calif. - Carson High's girls basketball team won its first game of the season, knocking off San Luis Obispo High, 50-33, in the opening round of the Morro Bay Invitational Wednesday.

Carson, 1-2, will play Righetti-Santa Maria today at 5 p.m.

"We played pretty good in the first half," Carson coach Todd Ackerman said. "We were up by 20 (actually 22). Our intensity level was down the second half. We did a good job pressuring the ball. I'm happy with the way we played."

Whitney Nash scored all seven of her points in the first half when Carson built a 34-12 lead. Natalie Stevens had six of her seven and Ashley Saarem dropped in five of her season-best six pints in that span.

Jazmyn Stokes led Carson's scoring with eight points.
