MORRO BAY, Calif. - Carson High's girls basketball team won its third consecutive game at the Morro Bay Invitational by knocking off Pioneer Valley 56-40 Friday night.
Carson, 3-2 overall, will play Lompoc in its final game today at 9 a.m.
Nine players scored for Carson led by Tiana McAllister-Daggs' 11 points, which is a season high. Jazmyn Stokes (9), Emily Collins (8) and Mary Longero (7) also produced season-best efforts. Whitney Nash also had seven for the Senators.
Carson led 21-16 after two quarters, but outscored PV 35-24 in the second half to win comfortably.
Stokes and Lisa Yamamoto combined for 14 of Carson's 19 points in the third quarter.
"We finally got into our offense," Carson coach Todd Ackerman said. "We got a little high-low going and did a nice job with it.
"Jazmyn has done well (in the tournament). She was very energetic."
DAYTON BOYS LOSE FIRST GAME
South Tahoe knocked visiting Dayton from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 51-49 win Friday night.
Dayton had a chance to tie the game, but the shot rimmed out.
Dylan Taylor led Dayton with 28 points.
Dayton visits Silver Stage on Tuesday night.
DAYTON FRESHMEN GIRLS WIN
The Dayton freshman girls basketball team held on for a 37-36 season-opening win over Lowry on Friday.
The game was tied at halftime, but Dayton opened up an eight-point lead in the third quarter. Lowry fought back but the Dust Devils were able to hang on for the win.
Cora Mebius lead Dayton with seven points, 10 rebounds and six steals. Lettie Lynch, Kylie Pack and Ashley Sandy all contributed six points.
