Louella Hartman

Louella Hartman, a resident of Carson City passed away Dec. 14, 2008. Louella had resided in Nevada since her discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1945. She was born Sept. 26, 1921 in Hudson, W. Va. to Charles A. Galloway and Martha Jane Light. Louella had five siblings, Noble Galloway, Carrie Galloway, Grace Gutzait, Annabelle Eby all of whom predeceased her. Her sister Doris Eader of Anacortes, Washington is her only surviving sibling.

Louella, a Navy nurse, met William C. Hartman, a young Marine, in San Diego, California and they were married on Christmas Eve 1945. They moved to Las Vegas and raised two sons, Stephen D. Hartman, of Carson City and Jeffrey L. Hartman, of Reno.

William predeceased her in 1972. She is survived by her sister Doris Eader; cousins Delbert and Sharon Galloway; her son Jeff (Laurie) Hartman and her grandchildren Amanda, Willie and Emily; her son Steve (Nancy) Hartman and her grandchildren Stephen, Kimberly Hartman Laack and her husband Taylor and Louella's great-grandson Noah Dominick Laack and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Louella was especially proud of her time serving her country, her relationship with her family, her involvement in the Trinity Methodist Church, and her work at the Boyd Group in Las Vegas. Her family is grateful to all of their many friends who filled her life with smiles, laughter and the impish grin that made her eyes sparkle. They are forever thankful for the exceptional attention she was given by the wonderful caregivers at Sierra Place and Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.

Arrangements are at Palm Mortuary on Main Street in Las Vegas in conjunction with Walton's Chapel of the Valley of Carson City. A viewing will be 9-11 a.m., Saturday with the service to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations be to the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
