A party for all ages in Dayton

The Dayton Senior Center will host its first-ever New Year's Eve party tonight with the theme "Winter Wonderland."

"I have no idea how many people will be here, but it will be great," said Denise Earp, the center's manager.

There will be games, door prizes and plenty of food for revelers, including honey barbecue chicken wings, Italian meatballs, an assortment of fruit, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, puff pastries and more. Held from 5-9 p.m., the "midnight" celebration will be toasted with a lemonade-7Up punch.

The party is open to all ages.

"It costs $2 per person, and we'll also have live music by Steve Foley and his friend," Earp said. "They play guitar and keyboard. It will be country music from the '40s through '60s."

Earp said she started working on the party plan in November. To get the word out to the community, she and members of the senior center have passed out fliers, put them on neighborhood doors and mailed some out.

"It's really going to be fun," she said. "I'm looking forward to it.

"I've had some people call and ask questions, but I don't know who will be here."

The senior center is at 320 Old Dayton Valley Road, next to the library.
