Washoe County police are asking for the public's help in identifying a body found along the banks of the Truckee River on Jan. 7.

According to Sheriff's Deputy Brooke Keast, the body appears to have been in the water prior to washing onto the river's edge just east of Reno.

The man is described as white, between 40 and 60 years old, weighing 197 pounds and standing between 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 6 feet, 1 inch tall. His brown and gray hair was pulled back into a small ponytail. He also had a brown and gray moustache and beard.

The victim's body was partially decomposed so the accompanying photograph is only meant to resemble the man.

Anyone with information that may be pertinent to this case is asked to call the Washoe County Sheriff's Office at 328-3320 or Detective Kathleen Bishop by pager at 861-3027,
