Builders give $8.3 million to charities

The Builders Association of Northern Nevada recently polled it's members to determine how much they give back to the community.

The Association collected charitable donation information from 40 member companies. Those companies alone gave more than $8.3 million to local charities in 2007. In addition to members individual contributions, in 2007.

The Builders Association Charity gave $125,000 to local children (and their families) suffering from catastrophic illnesses. In January, the charity donated more than $12,000 to the Fernley Assistance Fund to help families whose homes were lost or damaged by the Fernley levee break.

At the Northern Nevada Building Conference in 2007, The Builders released the results of its Economic Impact Study. They shared that new home construction generated more than $908 million in local income and generated more than 19,000 jobs.
