Carson City detectives still are looking for a man who allegedly stabbed two others outside an east Carson bar early Sunday morning.

Sheriff's Detective Bob Motamenpour said the victims, Terrill Smothers and Daniel Crocker, both in their mid to late 20s, identified Marvin Gilbert Dressler, 29, from a photo lineup as their assailant.

According to Motamenpour, Crock and Smothers were at Katie's Bar at 3481 Highway 50 East when the two men walked outside and got into Smothers' vehicle just before 3 p.m.

Dressler allegedly followed the men outside and then motioned for the driver, Crocker, to roll down his window.

"They thought that he wanted to talk about the car," said Motamenpour. But as soon as the window came down, Dressler allegedly began stabbing Crocker.

Motamenpour said Smothers jumped out of the vehicle and ran around to help his friend when Dressler attacked Smothers.

"The owner of the vehicle pushed the friend to the front passenger seat and the guys said, 'I've been stabbed.' Then Smothers realized he's been stabbed too," said Motamenpour.

Smothers drove to the hospital and both men were later taken by helicopter to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. Motamenpour said Crocker was in critical condition. Each of the men suffered more than a half dozen stab wounds.

Motamenpour said nothing preceded the event. The men did not exchange words inside the bar.

During the investigation, bar owner Kil Ye Chew, 57, allegedly obstructed officers when she refused to tell them someone was hiding inside her office.

According to Chew's arrest report, Detective Daniel Gonzales asked Chew about some video cameras, and she told officers the cameras didn't work. When he insisted upon seeing the equipment, Chew was hesitant and told police she didn't have keys to get into her office. When the detective pointed out keys on the bar, Chew allegedly said, "I already told you the office is locked and the cameras don't work."

Chew eventually opened the door and police found a man hiding inside in the dark, the report states. He was arrested for being intoxicated while on probation.

Chew was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an investigation.

Dressler is described as American Indian, 6 feet 4 inches tall and 400 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. In 2005 he was sentenced to 12 to 36 months in prison on a drug trafficking charge. His sentence expired on Feb. 3, 2007, according to Nevada Department of Correction records.

Anyone with information on Dressler's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Motamenpour at 887-2020 ext. 41406.
