A hearing over the liquor license for Katie's Bar needs to be set to deal with the bar owner who interfered with an stabbing investigation, Sheriff Kenny Furlong said.

The Liquor Board could set a day for the hearing at its meeting Thursday.

Owner Kil Ye Chew, 57, allegedly obstructed officers when she refused to tell them someone was hiding inside her office at the 3481 Highway 50 East bar when as they investigated the stabbing of two men at the bar Feb. 17.

According to Chew's arrest report, a detective asked Chew about some video cameras, and she told officers the cameras didn't work. When he insisted upon seeing the equipment, Chew was hesitant and told police she didn't have keys to get into her office.

Chew eventually opened the door and police found a man hiding inside in the dark, the report states. He was arrested for being intoxicated while on probation and was not a suspect in the stabbing.

Marvin Dressler, 29, of Dresslerville, surrendered later that week.

Chew was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an investigation.

"That's not the type of activity we want from our business people," Furlong said.

Chew's liquor license could be suspended or revoked at the meeting. Furlong declined to say what action he would recommend the board take.

A bar at the same location under the name Fairl's had its liquor license revoked after Carson City deputies responded to 160 calls, many involving fights and weapons.

Fairl's was also cited four times for serving alcohol to minors, and two felony and 11 misdemeanor arrests were made there.

Winnie Liquors was the most recent business to have its liquor license suspended when some of its employees sold alcohol to minors last year.
