All-Sierra Nevada girls basketball team

Jessica Waggoner, Douglas: Waggoner was named the Northern 4A Co-Regional Player of the Year and established herself as one of the premiere post players in the state. She averaged 16.25 points per game despite often facing double- and triple-team schemes on defense.

Bridget Maestretti, Douglas: Maestretti was a four-year starter for the Tigers and came into her own as a senior. A first-team all-region honoree, Maestretti averaged 9.06 points per game and was the team's top outside shooter. She also was one of the better ball-handlers in the region and had a knack for finding the open player. Her go-ahead 3-pointer with 43 seconds left against North Valleys was one of the top plays of the year.

Langley Iverson, Galena: Iverson averaged 13 points and eight rebounds a game in being named to the all-High Desert League and all-Northern 4A first teams.

Colleen Kern, Galena: Kern averaged 12.5 points, 5 reboundds and 3 assists in being named to the all-High Desert and all-Northern 4A first teams.

Gina Bianchi, Carson: The 5-9 shooting guard averaged 15.5 points and 4 rebounds a game. She was named to the all-Sierra League second team and to the all-State Academic team. She shot 48 percent from three-point range. She had one of the best performances of any Northern 4A player this year - boy or girl - when she scored 26 points and hit six three-pointers in the first half against Douglas.

Chanelle Thompson, Dayton: Thompson put up big numbers for the Dust Devils, scoring 558 points in 20 games. She shot 52 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the foul line in averaging 25.4 points a game. She also averaged 7.6 rebounds, an impressive 7.6 steals, 1.1 blocks and 4.3 assists per game.

Karrie-Ann Quartz, Yerington: She averaged 16 points and eight rebounds a game in helping to lead the Lions to their first state title since 1990.

Breann Busby, Truckee: A three-year varsity player, Busby stood out as the Wolverines' star player and top scorer in the post, averaging between 10 and 15 points a game. She was a silent leader on a young but talented team, always working hard and leading by example. "She's just a great leader out on the floor," said Truckee coach Angelo Tenorio. "She works hard both in practice and in game situations. She loves the game and is a great kid."

Kelly Hester, North Tahoe: A junior point guard at 5-foot-8, Hester is perhaps the Lakers' most athletic player, boasting a 26-inch vertical leap that also helped her excel in volleyball this past season. Voted to the Northern 2A All-League first team, the co-team captain led North Tahoe in scoring and assists, averaging 11.9 points and 3.3 assists, with 107 field goals, 286 points, 111 rebounds and 30 blocked shots. "Kelly Hester, I believe, has the entire package," said North Tahoe coach Scott Conn. "She has speed, agility, excellent technical defense and she can hit the outside jumper."

Sara Parsons, Fallon: She averaged 10 points a game and had a season-high of 24 points in one contest.

Tess Braun, South Tahoe: An all-Sierra League second team choice.

Honorable mention: Alexis Nunes-Fenley, South Tahoe; Alexis Holmes, South Tahoe; Kendra Koskin, Whittell; Brittany Hill, Dayton; Kayla Lommori, Yerington; Colleen Mullins, Galena; Emily Burns, Galena.
