120 years ago


A young man, recently married, suggested that the couple should argue at full length every morning. The first question argued was, "whether a woman could be expected to get along without a hat." He took the affirmative, and at last was seen climbing into a hay loft pulling the ladder up after him.


100 years ago


M. J. Murphy of Lander County has changed his views and will not resign from the position. He states he will file again for the office in the fall. Murphy resigned, it is claimed, because his bondsmen refused him after he reversed his testimony at the second trial of Dwyer. Dwyer was then found not guilty.


70 years ago


The social hall, erected last season at Camp Galilee near the state line on the east side of Lake Tahoe was crushed to the ground by heavy snow during the last snow. Men spent the day shoveling snow from other buildings in the summer camp grounds of the Episcopal Church of Nevada.


50 years ago


Rotary Club Pack 333 held its Annual Cub Scout Blue-Gold Banquet at Stewart dining hall. Attending the event was Gov. and Mrs. Charles Russell. John Sullivan, institutional representative presented the pack charter to Gov. Russell on behalf of Dr. Richard Petty, who was unable to attend.

The U.S. Energy Department is proposing an increase of 18 percent in spending next fiscal year in Nevada. The Energy Department is the single largest employer in the state (1988).

The Carson Rotary celebrates its 60th anniversary.
