Dorothy Lucille Dilger passed away February 23, 2008 in Pleasanton, California. She was born Dorothy Lucille Brenn on March 22, 1916 in Fairbury, Nebraska, and was the second youngest of twelve children.

After graduating from the University of Nebraska, she joined the Navy and served as a WAVE from 1943 through 1945. There she met Edward Dilger and the two were married October 4, 1944 in Denver, Colorado.

After the war, Edward was transferred to the Naval Air Station in Alameda, California. There they had four children, and Dorothy began a teaching career at St. John Catholic School in San Lorenzo. She ultimately became school Principle and retired from that position after twenty years of service.

She remained very active in Church affairs for several years, donating her time and energies for various causes. She loved gardening, playing bridge, and was an accomplished golfer.

She was preceded in death by her son Mark and her husband Edward. She is survived by her sister Loretta Stutz of Hebron, Nebraska, children Maryln Hawkins, Catherine and George Dilger, including grandchildren Michelle Cribbins and Anthony Dilger, as well as great-grandchildren Zachary and Kaytlin Hamilton.

Memorial Services are scheduled for February 28 at Holy Angels/Sorenson's Chapel in Hayward, California. She will be buried next to Edward the following day at Gustine National Cemetery after a military service. A Catholic Memorial Mass will be scheduled in the near future.
