A Dayton woman remained in custody Wednesday after she shot at a man who allegedly hit her.
Stacey Van Pelt, 37, was booked into the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of attempted homicide, discharging a firearm from a structure, discharging a firearm in a congested area, aiming a firearm at another, child endangerment and domestic battery. Her bail is set at $161,264.
According to a Lyon County Sheriff's news release, officers were called out to the 400 block of Rose Peak at 4 p.m. for a report of a woman firing a handgun in the street.
When they arrived, Van Pelt told police that she and Anthony Ferrando, 68, got into a physical fight inside their home.
"After the fight, Van Pelt retrieved a handgun and fired one shot at Ferrando who was sitting on the couch," the release states. "The bullet missed him but pierced the couch before exiting through a living room window."
The argument moved into the street, and Van Pelt allegedly fired another round into the pavement. Deputies arrived and both Van Pelt and Ferrando were detained.
Ferrando was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery.
Ferrando was uninjured, but Van Pelt complained of "minor injuries sustained from the battery," the report states.
Van Pelt's 4-year-old child was present during the incident, according to police.
The relationship between Van Pelt and Ferrando is unclear.
