Today's weather will be cloudy with rain and snow likely in the afternoon; snow level 5000 feet with accumulation of 1 to 3 inches and southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with scattered snow showers and southwest winds 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30.

The Nevada Department of Transportation at 6:25 a.m. reports the following road controls in Northern Nevada:

Highway 50 " snow tires or chains required for 14.6 miles from 0.7 miles east of the California state line and 6.9 miles west of Highway 395 in south Carson City.

Highway 395 " High wind advisory; campers and trailers not advised through Washoe Valley.
