Today's weather will be cloudy with a chance of scattered snow showers with highs from 32-42 and southeast winds 10-15 mph.

Tonight, cloudy with a chance of scattered snow showers with lows 20-30 and southeast winds 10-25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Weekend outlook " Mostly cloudy Saturday with a slight chance of showers; snow level rising to 5000 feet with highs from 37-47 and south winds 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Saturday night " Snow and rain likely with snow level around 5000 feet and south winds 10-15 mph.

Sunday " Brisk and mostly cloudy with a chance of snow; snow level near the valley floor and highs from 33-43 with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Surface streets in and around Carson City are slick. Be cautious when driving.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 6:29 a.m. the following road controls in Northern Nevada:

Highway 50 " Snow tires or chains required for 12.7 miles between. 0.5 miles west of Glenbrook and 0.1 miles west of Highway 395 in south Carson City.

Chains required except for four-wheel drive vehicles for 7.1 miles between 3.5 miles east of Kyburz and 10.6 miles east of Kyburz; snow tires or chains required for 15.1 miles between 10.6 miles east of Kyburz and SR 89.

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for four-wheel drive vehicles for 1.7 miles between Drum and 1.3 miles west of Blue Canyon, Calif.

Highway 395 " Snow tires or chains required for 6 miles between north Carson City and Winters Ranch (Washoe Valley).
