Mac V. Calico passed away on January 21, 2008, at the age of 80. He was born on January 2, 1928 in Hansen, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sallee Calico, who passed away on Jan. 4, 2007.

Mac left school after the 10th grade, joined the Navy in 1943 at a young age and left in 1946 at the end of WW 2. He was a strong believer in education. Mac and Sallee lived in Reno for over 30 years, owning and operating an insurance business and a real estate business. He expanded his business to Stagecoach, Nevada and eventually lived there full time. He was active in developing Stagecoach into a thriving community and closed his real estate office on Oct. 31, 2007. He was a Greyhound bus driver from 1954 until he retired. During his years in Reno he was active in the Masons as a member of Blue Lodge #13, a Shriner, a Jester and Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his daughter, Lois LaShell, who loved having him in her life; his granddaughter, Carrie LaShell, who thought he was "the best Grandpa in the world!" his sister, Ruth Ross, to whom he was especially close; his brother, Franklin Calico, of Seattle Wash., to whom he talked daily; and the following nieces and nephews who all adored their "Uncle Mac", Jay Ross, Kathy Ross, Frank Ross, Ann Calico, Laura Calico, Bruce Calico, and Gene Calico. His grandnieces and nephews were just as special to him and another generation grew up with "Uncle Mac". He was respected, admired, and loved by all his family and so many friends. We will miss you forever and you will always be remembered.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Mary's Hospice, 18653 Wedge Parkway, Reno, Nevada, 89511, or The Shriner's Children's Hospital.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is caring for the arrangements.
