Wednesday's weather outlook, road conditions

Area surface streets are slick from overnight snowfall and freezing temperatures. Road crews are working to clear snow; drive carefully for the conditions.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 6:27 a.m. the following road controls:

Highway 50 " Snow tires or chains required for 21.1 miles between 0.7 miles east of the California state line and 0.4 miles west of Highway 395 in south Carson City.

Highway 395 " Snow tires or chains required for 15.1 miles between north Carson City and SR 341/431.

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for four-wheel drive vehicles for 58.2 miles between Alta and 0.7 miles east of the California state line.

Snow tires or chains required for 6.3 miles between 0.7 miles east of the California state line and 0.1 miles west of Mogul.

Today's weather will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers with west winds 10-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with southwest winds 10-15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph after midnight.
