Little League sign-ups to start Saturday:


Carson City Little League will hold sign ups 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. Williams St. The cost for one child is $60 and $90 for a family. For information visit www.carsoncitylittleleague.org.




Pioneer Family Dance Saturday at BAC:


Pioneer Family Dance will host a dance 7-10 p.m. Saturday upstairs at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St. Adults are $8 and kids, 6-16 are free with an adult or $3 without. For information call 883-9351.

Guy Rocha to lecture at state Library:


Nevada State Archivist Guy Rocha will lecture on the history of brothel prostitution in Nevada 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Nevada State Library and Archives, 100 N. Stewart St.

BLM seeking on call firefighters:


The Bureau of Land Management, Carson City Field Office, will be accepting applications from the public for the Administratively Determined/Emergency Firefighter Program Feb. 25-March 14.


AD/EF's are temporary, on call positions. Application forms can be picked up in person at the BLM-Carson City Field Office, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 5665 Morgan Mill Road at Deer Run Road.

Nevada Opera to stage Culinary Concert:


Nevada Opera executive director and CIA-trained chef William Russell will go mano a mano against local celebrity chef and author of three hit cookbooks Jennifer Bushman in an epicurean duel set to music in the Culinary Concert - Opera 101 Wine Tasting and Musical Exhibition.


The event starts 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.




South Lake Tahoe


Hip-hop concert in South Lake Tahoe:


Late-Nite Productions presents a night of Northern Californian hip-hop as The Pyrx Band and Potluck take the stage 9 p.m. Saturday at Whiskey Dick's Saloon in South Lake Tahoe.


This party is for those 21 and older. Tickets are $10 at the door.




Tahoe Meadows


Search and Rescue Dog Demonstration at Tahoe Meadows:


The U.S. Forest Service Carson Ranger District has announced a Search and Rescue Dog Demonstration at 10 a.m. Saturday at the west end of Tahoe Meadows on the south side of the Mt. Rose Highway (NV 431) at 2 p.m. at Mt. Rose Ski Area main lodge ski school.
