With the Fourth of July parade now in the memory books, all eyes have shifted to tonight's Top 15 Finals for the 23rd annual Silver State International Rodeo.

The finals begin at 6 p.m. at the Churchill County Fairgrounds.

The finals highlight five days of competition among some of the best high school cowboys and cowgirls in the West.

Utah led the teams going into Friday night's eighth round. Contestants from the Beehive State are first in five events. Krystal Brown leads in breakaway roping. At the top spot in team roping are Brandi Ramone and T.J. Beck.

The boys lead in three others - Jared Thompson, tie-down roping; Bo Edwards, bull riding; and Collin Pace, boys cutting.

Mariah Rys-Sikora of Montana is the only double-event leader. She's in charge in pole bending and goat tying. Kristin Woods of Oregon has emerged as the top barrel racer.

In the remaining events, Taylor DeRegt of California is tops in girls cutting, Dick Tavener leads steer wrestling and Coleman Watt of Alberta has ridden to first place in saddle bronc.
