A utilities crew working on the southeast side of C Hill today unearthed human remains just before 1 p.m.

Investigators are at the spot, just up the hill off Curry Street behind U.S. Forest Service's Carson Ranger Station.

A Sierra Pacific Crew was digging a hole with a backhoe to install a new power pole, when the backhoe operator noticed the bones. Crews immediately stopped digging and called police.

So far, investigators have recovered ribs, vertebrae, pelvic bones and skull fragments and a jaw bone with teeth intact.

The bones appear to have been there for years.

Amid the bones a blue button was also discovered.
