Daryl Lyle Mobley, a 17-year resident of Wellington, died June 30, 2008. He was born April 17, 1927 in Onawa, Iowa to John and Gladys Mobley.

He is survived by six children: Gary, Richard and Rodney Mobley and Judy Prins, Jean Heuer and Jane Smith of Oregon, and four step-children: Patti Smith, Barbara Lee, Michael and Rick Dittman as well as 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Daryl served in the Navy during World War II and retired from Alaska Sales and Service.

He was a devoted member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars 3630 since 1991. He held offices of State Commander from 1998-1999, District Commander, Commander of the Post and various other offices in addition to several national chairmanships.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday at the Fernley Veterans Cemetery in Fernley. A memorial service will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday at the Topaz Ranch Estates Community Park Building, 3939 Carter.

Arrangements have been made by the Autumn Funerals and Cremations of Carson City.
