William "Bill" D. Ramthun, passed away suddenly during the night at his home in Carson City, July 7, 2008, at the age of 68. He was born to Forest and Esther Ramthun March 28, 1940 in Rochester, Minn. He married his high school sweetheart Judy Erickson May 7, 1960. He was a graduate of Byron High School, Byron, Minn. in 1958.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor for hospitals in Rochester, Minn., Bakersfield, Calif., and Carson City. He retired from Harrah's Reno, in 2006.
An avid fisherman, racecar fan, and pit crew chief, who loved working with his hands, and a wonderful grandpa with many a lesson or skill to teach.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim, grandson Zachary, parents-in-law, Orin and Florence Erickson, brother-in-law Kasper Klein, and many aunts and uncles.
He is loved and missed beyond words, by his wife of 48 years, Judy, his children, Brett (Diane) of Peoria, Ill., Melissa (Walt) Dimitroff of Reno, Matt, (Emily) of Carson City, Shannon (James) of Dayton, and Blake (Lisa) of Los Angeles Calif., as well as his grandchildren, Justin Ramthun, Maya, Nate and Landon Dimitroff, Shane and Derrek Ramthun, Nathasha and Dalton Wells, Triston and Rilynn Szugye, and Alexandra, Hayden, and Hailey Ramthun. He is also missed by sister Donna Klein, and brother Dan Ramthun, and survived by sister Deanna Anderson, and Randy Ramthun and their families. His strong presence will continue to be with us always as we grieve our great loss until we meet again.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Carson City. Arrangements entrusted to Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
