DAWG hosts agility event, dog adoption

Douglas Animal Welfare Group will host a "Park Bark" event, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., today at Fuji Park.

The event is sponsored by the Bonanza Kennel Club, Quicksilver Agility and Northern Nevada Aussie Club and will feature agility and conference events. Adoptable dogs from the Douglas County Animal Shelter will be available for adoption.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Retirees will meet 10 a.m., Monday, at 709 E. Robinson St.

High Sierra Radio Control Club open house

High Sierra Radio Control Club will host an open house, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., today, Club Flying Field on Flint Road (same road to take to the Sanitary Landfill). 3-D acrobatic flying, flight demonstrations, introductory flights with a Buddy Cord, helio and jet flying.

Area USC alumni hosts "SCend Off"

USC Northern Nevada-Lake Tahoe Alumni Club hosts a "SCend Off," 3-7 p.m., July 26, Zephyr Cove Resort, 760 Highway 50.

USC Marching Band, Song Girls, and Flag Twirlers will be in attendance. Scholarships will be awarded and there will be a raffle and silent auction.

Summer Food Service benefits Boys & Girls Club

The Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge.

Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability.

Meals will be provided for free 8-9 a.m., and noon-12:45 p.m. at Boys and Girls Club of North Lake, 8125 Steelhead Avenue, Kings Beach, Calif.

Nevada Diabetes Association barbecue

The Nevada Diabetes Association will host a western-style barbecue dinner, 6:30 p.m., July 26, the Bartley Ranch House, Gus Bartley Regional Park, 6000 Bartley Ranch Road, Reno. Among the evening's highlights will include a special presentation of Donna Long's paintings and Jerry Smith's sculptures. Seating is limited.
