Our beloved Dad Bill passed away on July 2, 2008 surrounded by his family after a brief battle with brain cancer. He was 76.

He was born April 6, 1932 in El Paso, Texas. He grew up in Santa Barbara, Calif. and moved to Minden in 2004. He was an Electrical Contractor and a 50 year member of the I.B.E.W. Local 413, a Korean War veteran, Elks Lodge member, but most of all he was "the best Dad", Grandfather, "Honey", Uncle, Brother, Brother-in-law, and friend.

He loved life! He had a sense of adventure and a passion for travel. He enjoyed exploring the United States in his fifth wheel and loved spending long periods of time in Hawaii and Mexico. BBQ's and boating on Lake Tahoe with his family were among his favorite things. But even more than all that he loved his family and just being with them most of all. He was an avid reader and Historian. We all would marvel about the facts that he knew and the knowledge that he shared.

He was preceded in death by his wife Loretta and is survived by his three children, Toni York (Cole Smith), Tom (Heather) Cranney, Tim (Tracy) Cranney; grandchildren, Christina York, Amanda York (Nate McVay), Kyle Cranney, Angela Cranney, Krystal Simkins, Erin Smith, Lindsay (Darren) Grubb; great granddaughters, Haylee and Kaylee, sister JoAnn Vincent; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was a kind, caring, compassionate, loving man who always saw the best in everyone. His passing has left a huge void in our lives and in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life will be 4 p.m., Friday, at 1057 Camellia Court, Minden.

Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
