HorseShoe Club party tonight features auction


The Carson Horseshoe Club will hold its 35th Anniversary Party tonight from 5:30-9:30 p.m., an event that will benefit the Kids and Horses Therapeutic Riding Center. The party will be on Telegraph at Carson Street and will feature the band "Cutups."


Also featured will be a Cowboy and Cowgirl Auction, a live auction, free cake, miniature horses, free carriage rides, a dunk tank, horseshoe game and face painting for the kids.


Red's 395 Grill will be barbecuing on site with their locomotive grill.


The highest bidders in the cowboy/cowgirl auction will be a part of a group date night at Red's at 7 p.m. on Aug. 9.


The cowboy and cowgirls up for auction are: Paula Lowe, Leonard Semas, Linda Martin, Carla Silvestri, Michael Lashkoff, Jason Fuller, Jennifer Duve and Troy Dennis.


Classic Dog agility trials today, Sunday


Pepper Memorial Classic Dog Agility Trial, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., today through Sunday at Fuji Park. This is a fundraiser for the Morris Animal Foundation canine cancer studies. Spectating is free. For information, visit www.mdt-agilityability.com/pepper.htm or call 425-2375.

"Critter Control of Deer, Rabbits, Voles, Pigeons, and More" seminar hosted by David Ruf, 9 a.m., today, at Greenhouse Garden Center, 2450 S. D'Vine to host zin and ribs dinner


D'Vine Wine and Bistro behind the old Capitol Building is hosting "Ribs n' Zin," 4-9 p.m., today. It's an all you can eat and drink event, featuring live music from the Mile High Jazz Band.

Stargaze at Dangberg Home Ranch


Nevada State Parks and the Astronomical Society of Nevada host free stargazing, 8:30-10 p.m., Saturday at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, 1450 Highway 88.

Crystal Bay


Kids and Horses Fundraiser auditions


Kids and Horses will hosts a BBQ Fundraiser 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Crystal Bay Club, Crystal Bay. The theme again this year is "Kids Helping Kids." During the fundraiser, 10 local singers will be narrowed down to three, and the winner will be chosen by audience applause in an American Idol-type format.
