Roy Gene Swayze, 78, a 13-year resident of Dayton, passed away July 23, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital, Reno.

He was born September 22, 1929 to Roy M. Swayze and Effie Edwards in Tacoma, Wash. Roy attended schools in and around Puyallup, Wash. He was a member of the American Legion. He served four years in the U.S. Navy, serving on a repair ship in Japan during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma.

He is survived by his beloved companion, Caroline Mauldin; his brother and sister-in-law Stanford and Barbara Swayze of Hoodsport, Wash. and Bullhead City, Ariz.; son and daughter-in-law Jim and Sylvia Swayze of Greensboro, N.C.; daughter Patty Wilson of Shelton, Wash.; and grandchildren Jason, Dionne, and Brandon and several nieces and nephews.

At Roy's request there will be no services. FitzHenry's Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
