The Carson-Douglas Rodeo Club concluded a successful season this week at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Farmington, N.M.

While none of the locals were able to qualify for Saturday night's championship round, there were a couple of highlights in the performance by Karsya Perez in the National Rodeo Queen contest and Cody Kiser's performance in the rifle shooting event.

Perez, the Nevada Rodeo Queen, ended up fourth in the national contest with 170 points. Utah's Taci Shaffer became the National Rodeo Queen with 200 points.

Dayton's Kiser tied for first in the rifle competition, scoring 197 out of 200 points. Kiser also competed in bareback riding this week. Also for the Carson-Douglas Club this week, Cory Hershkowitz competed in bareback, Elyse Heberger competed in breakaway roping and Jonathon Glocknitzer competed in boys cutting.

In addition, Minden's Grant Denny competed in steer wrestling, although he struggled somewhat in both of his go-rounds. He finished 17th in Friday night's go-round in 11.979 seconds.
