Through June 14, extra Carson City Sheriff's deputies will be on patrol to target drunken drivers, said Deputy Jarrod Adams.

"With school ending for the summer and the weather getting nicer, there are a lot more people traveling and driving on the road," Adams said. "Street Vibrations is also coming to our area, and several motorcycles will be traveling through Carson City."

About three in every 10 Americans will be involved in an alcohol-related crash at sometime in their lives, according to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"We don't want the people of Carson City to become one these statistics," he said.

Funding for the overtime used in this campaign has been provided by the Joining Forces grant, administered by the Nevada Office Of Traffic Safety, Department of Public Safety.
