Carson Tahoe offers affordable lab screenings on the second Tuesday of each month. Doctor's orders are not required. Included: Comprehensive Metabolic and Lipid Panel, PSA, CBC, TSH, and Hemoglobin A1c.

Benefit for LaFoon Family


Trash and Treasures rummage sale to benefit the LaFoon Family will be 7 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday at 430 Jeanell Drive. The LaFoon Family of Carson City found out in February Edy has stage three breast cancer. Edy, a daycare teacher, is not insured and the bills are adding up.


All proceeds will be donated to the LaFoon family. Local business sponsors include: Kidding Around Preschool, Noble Studios, Allegra Print & Imaging, Little People Portraits, Raley's, and 1-800-GOT-JUNK.

Dog Park advocates to meet


An organizational meeting of citizens interested in building a dog park in Carson City will be 5:30 p.m., Monday, in the Bonanza Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. For information, call 884-3037.

Desert Brushes to meet


The Carson Valley Desert Brushes will meet 6 p.m., Wednesday, at the Johnson Lane Firehouse, 1450 Stephanie Way, Minden.

Library closed for Carson Valley Days


The Douglas County Public Library in Minden will be closed from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, for staff participation in the Carson Valley Days Parade. The Library will be open from 1-6 p.m. that day. For information, call 782-9841.

Summer Programs in Virginia City


Community Chest, Inc., Virginia City offers summer fun for youth and children of all ages. Fun, positive and supervised learning experiences for youth from Kindergarten through high school this summer. Space is limited to 30 children daily for some programs. $15 registration fee for all programs includes a T-shirt and water bottle. Octane Fest at Top Gun Raceway


Octane Fest, June 10-15, is a week of motor sports events and rock concerts that will be anchored by the NHRA Lucas Oil Series Drag Races at Top Gun Raceway.
