Pyramid Lake closes June 30

Pyramid Lake, which is located approximately 30 miles north of Sparks will close on Monday, June 30 to fishing for Lahontan cutthroat trout.

That big lake has a three month closure, each year, from July 1 through Sept. 30.

On October 1, it will re-open for the 2008-2009 cutthroat trout fishing season.

Note No. 1: You do not need a Nevada fishing license nor a Nevada Trout Stamp to fish at this lake.

You will need a Pyramid Lake Tribal fishing and boating permit.

Be advised that Pyramid Lake has very special fishing restrictions and regulations.

Note No. 2: The recognized world record Lahontan cutthroat trout was caught at Pyramid Lake in 1925. It weighed 41 pounds.

Note No. 3: The largest cutthroat caught since official records were first established in 1968 is a 24-pound, 12-ounce (33.5 inches in length) Cutt caught on Feb. 27, 2005 by Tim Bayles.
