Vincent H. Smith, 90, passed away June 15, 2008 in Carson City after a brief illness. He was born April 13, 1918 in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Leona.
Mr. Smith was a World War II Army veteran who served his country heroically in Europe. He moved west settling in San Francisco in 1950 to work at Alcatraz. He discovered the beauty of Lake Tahoe while camping along the shores and then retired to Carson City in 1990. He enjoyed celebrity shows at casinos, was an avid bowler and baseball fan.
At his request there will be no services. Donations may be made to the Veterans Guest Home in Reno, Nevada.
