RENO - The Nevada Highway Patrol says a Carson City man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding sideswiped an oncoming pickup truck and trailer on State Route 28 at Lake Tahoe.
Fred K. Timmons, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that happened around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Authorities say Timmons was heading north on the narrow, two-lane scenic route when his motorcycle veered into the opposing travel lane on a blind curve.
The driver of the truck, David Shattuck, 42, of Gardnerville, was not injured.
The highway was closed for about three hours while officers investigated.
