Carson National took a rather fundamental approach in beating Reno Continental on Sunday in the 11-12 year-old Little League Hooligans All-Star Tournament at Aspen Park in Gardnerville.
"We hit the snot out of the ball," said Jim Blueberg, whose team took a 33-7 victory over previously unbeaten Reno Continental.
Carson National erupted for nine first-inning runs. It added seven in the second, six in the third and 11 in the fourth.
Starter Nate Controneo, Nevin Elliott, Ronnie Orzzali and Josiah Pangosi pitched one inning apiece and helped their own cause offensively.
Elliott went 4-for-5 with two home runs, Controneo 3-for-5, Pangosi 2-for-4 and Orzzali 1-for-3 for Carson National, which has scored 60 runs in its three games.
"They were a decent hitting team, they just weren't able to get us out," Blueberg said of Continental, which used five pitchers in the four-inning game.
Archie Redmond (2-for-5) added a homer, T.J. Thomsen went 4-for-6 and Kyle Steele finished 2-for-4 for Carson National, which will meet South Tahoe (0-3) tonight at 8 p.m. at Aspen Park.
Carson National is one of three teams with a 2-1 record and has clinched a spot in Tuesday's quarterfinals.
If more than two teams finish at 3-1, the tiebreaker goes to the one that has surrendered the least amount of runs.

Carson American got off to a great start in Sunday's game against Washoe, but couldn't finish their foe from the North.
Washoe hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the win over Carson American.
"It was a good battle. It was back and forth the whole game," said Carson American coach Jim Andrews.
Jace Zampirro went 3-for-4 and his second-inning grand slam gave Carson American an 8-0 lead headed into the bottom of the second inning.
Washoe rallied, however, and scored four runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning to cut the lead in half.
Washoe would pull ahead in the fourth inning, scoring six runs to take a 10-8 lead.
Chazz Nystrom erased Washoe's lead in the fifth, hitting a two-run double to make it 10-10 before Washoe rallied two innings later for the win.
Zach Andrews finished 3-for-5 and Joe Runge went 3-for-4 to help lead Carson American, which also got a hit apiece from Dalton Butler, Luke Maher and Zak Harges.
Carson American, which fell to 3-1, has advanced to Tuesday's quarterfinal round at Aspen Park.
Washoe will be the No. 1 seed and Carson American, which will meet its as yet to be determined opponent at 8 p.m., will be the No. 2 seed.
