No bull, all is right in Foltyn's world

RENO - For the third consecutive night, a bull rider posted a 90.

Clayton Foltyn, who won the Xtreme Bulls event here last Thursday, scored a 90 to move into a three-way tie for first with Fred Boettcher and Sonny Murphy at the 89th annual Reno Rodeo at the Reno Livestock Events Center Tuesday night.

Foltyn rode the same horse that Jesse Bail had ridden before.

"It went left for Jesse and went right on me," Foltyn said. "It was good."

It certainly gives Foltyn some good karma heading into Saturday.

"I always have that feeling," Foltyn said.

Foltyn was dumped off two bulls in Texas after leaving Reno last week. He is headed for rodeos in Texas, new Mexico and South Dakota before heading back to Reno for Saturday's championship

Foltyn and Chance Smart enjoyed the only successful rides. Smart finished with a 77, but was seen disputing the score with judges in the chutes area.

Defending champion Wesley Silcox and B.J. Schumacher are tied for fourth with 87s.

NIGHTLY RESULTS

The scores were low in bareback on Tuesday, as only two riders broke 80 - Kaycee Feild (83) and Josi Young (81).

Cash Myers posted an impressive 4.0 in steer wrestling, while Jake Rinehart was at 4.5 and Clay Cowan was at 5.3.

Only two roping teams were on target - Brandon and Mike Beers were timed in 6.2. Chance Johnson and John Chaves were timed in 8.8.

In saddle bronc riding, veteran Billy Etbauer turned in an 89, Jake Hayworth 85, JJ Elshere 84 and Jesse Bail 84.

Tiffany Fox was won the night in barrel racing with 17.10, while Brittany Pozzi-Phar was second at 17.50. Teressa Peck was third at 17.81.

Cash Myers was the nightly winner in tie-down roping at 8.60 while Adam Gray was next at 12.
