'Laps for Yaps' for animal protection
The Yerington Animal Protection Society hosts "LAPS for YAPS," Sunday at Cottonwood Ranch, 1100 Highway 339, Yerington. Registration and check-in begin at 8:30 a.m.; races start at 10 a.m. This program offers low cost alters year round for Mason Valley and Smith Valley residents' cats and dogs. Funds are needed to continue this program. There will be a 10K run, a 5k run, a 2 mile walk and a 1Ú2 mile run for kids. All of this will be done with your dog (on a leash) but you are welcome without a dog. Registration forms are available at The Kritter Kafe (123 N. Main) or at the Information Center (227 S. Main).
