Crews work brush fires in Highlands, Iron Mountain

Lyon County fire crews are responding to the report of a brush fire near Yellowjacket Road off Iron Mountain Road.

Also, Storey County fire crews are working a fire in the Virginia City Highlands.

The National Weather Service is reporting that scattered thunderstorms are developing this afternoon over Lyon County and along the Sierra Front. The storms are expected to increase and spread north this evening. Scattered lightning could lead to some fire starts through this evening. A red flag warning, meaning criticial fire weather conditions, is in effect until 11 p.m.
