Benjamin Robert Oxley, 36 of Minden, loving son, brother, husband and father passed away suddenly on February 21, 2008. Born January 20, 1972 in West Covina, Calif. Ben moved to the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii at age 10 and it truly became not just his home but his playground. From infancy to manhood, Ben was a spirited, loving, and outgoing and giving person - what was his was yours. He touched many lives in his 36 years and was everyone's friend. Ben loved all activities but was drawn to water sports, loving to surf and Jet Ski. As a child he played Pop Warner football and in High School played soccer and football becoming known as the barefoot kicker. Ben graduated from Honokaa High School in 1990.He worked at Paniolo Country Inn in Kamuela for many years before moving to the mainland to experience life. On September 17, 2006 Ben married the love of his life and his true soul mate Melissa and they were joyously raising his daughter Alyssa. Ben worked as a heating and air conditioning installer/foreman and was a beloved member of Carson Valley Christian Church.

Ben was preceded in death by his mother Frances in 2004. He is survived by the loves of his life, his wife Melissa and his daughter Alyssa who was the apple of his eye, his father Ed and stepmother Debbie of Arizona, brothers and sisters, Charles Madison of Arizona, Tina Madison of Arizona, Lisa Fuentes of New Mexico, Ann (Reed) Becker of Hawaii, Sonja (William) Lenfestey of Arizona, twin brother Bill Oxley of Arizona, Daniel Oxley USMC of North Carolina, Amanda Oxley of Arizona, Grandparents Myron and Cathy Lay of California, maternal Aunt Dottie (Gary) of California along with 40 nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. He is also survived by his loving in-laws, Brian, Tammy, Ben, Craig and Josh Nichols of Arizona and Nevada.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Carson Valley Christian Church. The family is requesting that something green be worn as this was Benis favorite color. Memorial contributions may be made at any Wells Fargo Bank to the Ben Oxley Memorial Fund.
