Brugo's Take-N-Bake Pizza Bistro

3228 North Carson St., North Town Plaza

887-PIES (7437)

Name: Chris McDonald

Position: She co-owns the restaurant with her husband, Troy.

The store: They sell gourmet pizzas, salads, appetizers and wines for eat-in or carry-out.

Background: The store opened March 1 because Chris has always loved cooking. They wanted to run a nice restaurant on the north side of town and thought Brugo's was a good franchise with great food. This is the first Brugo's with a bistro. "We were terrified," Chris said. "We didn't know what we were going to get, but it's been great."

What she used to do: She was a horse breaker and before that, a publicist.

The atmosphere: The bistro has tables from Italy and Tuscan rock walls. "We didn't want just another place that was arcades and video games," Chris said. "We wanted a place that was more for people to come and have a nice meal without paying a really high price."

The service: She said it is a restaurant that wants to get to know customers and give them great service. "A lot of restaurants are forgetting that," she said. "(It's like) they're doing us the favor."
