Carson City Sheriff's deputies stopped traffic on North Edmonds Drive for a few minutes Thursday afternoon after a Carson City man allegedly threw 10 packets of drugs into the street before trying to run away, according to deputies.

The drugs Jason Tyler McKinnish had were methamphetamine and possibly cocaine, Detective Daniel Gonzales said.

McKinnish, who is in his early 20s, was driving the car of a man who is in jail, and that's why police first pulled up behind him around 3 p.m. in a parking lot at the corner of North Edmonds and Desatoya drives, the detective said.

The suspect was arrested on charges of drug possession, packaging drugs for sale, eluding police and driving with a suspended license.
