Man arrested in sexual assault of girl

A Carson City man remained in custody Thursday charged in the sexual assault of a relative.

Jose Daniel Sanchez, 39, was arrested at 5:46 p.m. in the 1600 block of East Long Street on suspicion of felony sexual assault of a child under 14.

According to the arrest report, the girl's mother called police after she learned that Sanchez had accosted her 13-year-old daughter an hour earlier at her home.

The girl allegedly told police she and Sanchez were watching a movie when he pinned her on the couch and assaulted her. Her 7-year-old sister was in the room at the time, according to the report.

The victim then allegedly ran to a neighbor's home and called her mother.

Detective Craig Lowe said Sanchez admitted in an interview touching the victim.

Sanchez is being held on $25,000 bail.
