A streaker accused of running past cheerleaders at Douglas High School in Minden has been placed on two years probation and ordered to complete 80 hours of community service.

Douglas County District Judge Dave Gamble handed down the sentence Tuesday to Michael King, 21, of Minden, who pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure.

Last June and July, King ran naked in front of the cheerleaders, stood naked behind a girl and followed two girls while he was naked or only wearing underwear, according to the criminal complaint.

King also was ordered to keep away from all schools and to avoid contact with minors without permission of his probation officer.

"People in our community should be free of this ridiculous behavior," Gamble said, adding King would be sent to jail for one year if he violates the probation conditions.

"I know it was incredibly stupid," King said. "Nothing like this will ever happen again."
